Smoothie King Interview
I had the privilege of sitting down and asking a few questions with the manager of the Smoothie King located by the University of Cincinnati:
Me: What is unique about the fruits that Smoothie King uses in their smoothies?
Zac: Our fruits and juices are all natural and do not contain any added sugar.
Me: How clean is the store? What do you and your employees do to clean it?
Zac: Very clean. Employees are encouraged to clean all throughout the day, in addition to open and close. It is also very important that we rotate the fruits and juices properly to make sure nothing in the store goes bad. We are also very health conscious of food allergies, so we avoid cross-contamination as most as possible.
Me: What is the history behind Smoothie King?
Zac: A man from Louisiana began Smoothie King in 1973 after realizing that he could not eat malts and shakes because he was lactose intolerant. He then realized that his smoothies also helped lower his blood sugar levels.
Me: Why is it so expensive just for a smoothie?
Zac: It is expensive because our smoothies are considered a full meal, just like a burger and fries at McDonalds. Hey contain everything an individual needs in a meal and more.
Me: What are the values and purpose of Smoothie King?
Zac: We have what we call our mission and our vision. Basically, our vision is to inspire people to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Our vision is to become part of those individual’s daily lives by providing them with a smoothie to help them achieve their health goals.
